For your IT department

Nothing to install on your network.

DWNwire runs entirely on iPhones and iPads. There are no servers, no school logins and no changes to your firewall.

  • No connection to the school network is needed. Football uses its own router at the field.
  • No accounts, single sign-on or rostering integration to set up.
  • No browser plug-ins, desktop software or cloud services.
  • Works on school-owned or staff-owned devices running iOS 16 or later.
Our iPads are school-managed. Can staff install it?

During the beta the apps install through Apple’s TestFlight app. If your device management blocks TestFlight, IT can allow it or install it for the staff. Once the apps are on the App Store, they can be distributed like any other app.

What router should Football use?

A dedicated dual-band Wi-Fi router the program controls, set up as a normal network (not a guest network). It doesn’t need an internet connection. We’re happy to recommend one for your field.

Does Football use the school’s Wi-Fi?

No. Every device joins the program’s own router at the field, so game traffic never touches the school network.

Does anything run in the cloud?

No. The apps don’t send rosters, stats or video to DWNwire or any outside service.

Privacy + data

Student data stays on campus.

DWNwire never receives your rosters, stats or video. There is no outside party holding student information, which keeps district review simple.

0accounts to create
0student logins
0cloud uploads
What student information is entered?

Only what coaches choose: names and jersey numbers, plus optional positions and grades. No birthdates, emails, photos or student IDs.

Where is it stored, and who can see it?

On the school’s or staff’s own iPhones and iPads. Only people holding those devices can see it. Football clips move between devices over the program’s router at the field, not the internet.

Who owns the data?

Your program does. Coaches can export PDF and Excel reports and video clips at any time, and nothing is locked inside DWNwire.

What if a device is lost, replaced or a coach leaves?

Baseball and Basketball save backups to Files that restore on a new device. Deleting an app deletes its data, so keep backups current and install updates over the existing app instead of deleting it. A device passcode protects the data like anything else on the iPad.

Do athletes or parents need to sign up?

No. Athletes never touch the app, and nothing is shared with parents unless a coach exports and sends a report.

Rollout

From yes to game day.

1

Install

Coaches install the free TestFlight app and open the link for their sport on the devices they’ll use.

2

Set up

Add the roster and team colors. Baseball and Basketball rosters paste from a spreadsheet. Football plugs in its router.

3

Practice

Run one practice or scrimmage with it. Every staff role is learned in that session.

4

Game day

Use it live. Export reports after the game and send us feedback anytime.

Rules + staffing

Who runs it, and when.

Each app is built so the people you already have can run it.

FootballAn assistant, parent volunteer or student manager runs the operator iPad in the press box. Coaches use their own phones; a statistician can add player stats.
BaseballOne scorer, often an assistant or the team’s book-keeper, scores both teams or scouts the opponent.
BasketballOne person at the scorer’s table or on the bench keeps stats in three taps per shot.
Is sideline replay allowed in our state?

Each state association sets its own rules on video and electronic devices during games, and some limit when or where replay can be viewed. Check your current football rules before using replay live. Practice, scrimmage and press-box use are good places to start.

Can students run the apps?

Yes. Student managers often run stats and the operator iPad. They don’t need accounts, and you control the devices.

Does Football record the whole game?

No. It keeps a rolling 20 or 30 second replay buffer and saves only the plays the operator chooses, which keeps storage small.

What about pitch-count rules?

Baseball tracks each pitcher against the limit you set, warns at 75% and shows rest days by game date. Your league’s rules and the coach’s judgment always decide.

Questions ADs ask

Before you sign off.

Budget

How is it priced?

Per program, per season, not per device or per coach, so staff can use every iPhone and iPad they have. Request a quote for one sport or all three.

Can we try it before we pay?

Yes. All three apps are free to install and use through Apple’s TestFlight during the beta.

Are there hidden costs?

No. Football needs one Wi-Fi router. Headsets, tripods and stands are optional. There are no hardware kits, servers or service fees.

Staff

How long does training take?

One practice. The hands-on demos on this site work the same way as the apps, so coaches can try them before they install.

Can several sports share devices?

Yes. Each app is separate, so a school iPad can run Baseball in spring and Basketball in winter.

After the beta

What happens when the beta ends?

The apps move to the App Store.

How are updates delivered?

Through TestFlight now and the App Store later. Staff install updates over the existing app; there’s nothing for IT to push.

Support

Who do we call for help?

Email hello@dwnwire.com. The Support page has install steps and setup guides for each app.

What about our other sports?

DWNwire Stats, for scorebooks across volleyball, soccer, wrestling and more, is coming soon. Ask to be notified below.
